The Fine Family

Over a Century of Leadership in Hampton Roads

Since 1923

For more than a century, the Fine family has helped shape Hampton Roads through law, real estate, and community service.

It began in 1923, when Louis B. Fine opened a law practice built on personal attention and fair dealing. Starting in the Depression era, he also built a collection of real estate, convinced that land and buildings were assets that last. Family members remember him as an “insatiable collector.”

That portfolio became what is known today as The Runnymede Corporation, founded in 1956. Louis’s sons, Morris and Andrew Fine, have carried it forward.

Runnymede has always been about more than the buildings and real estate. Community care and philanthropy has been at the heart of everything that’s been built. In 2017, Morris and Andrew were jointly named Outstanding Philanthropists by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Hampton Roads Chapter.
