Andrew Fine has been active in commercial real estate in the Hampton Roads area since 1962. He received his BA from Brown University and graduated from University of Virginia Law School in 1962. He practiced law in the family law firm until 1984 when he joined The Runnymede Corporation as President. He has an extensive background in business development and has numerous community affiliations. He was First Citizen of Virginia Beach in 1990 and served as Co-Chairman of the Virginia Beach Labor Day Coordinating Committee. He was a Founding Director of both Commerce Bank and TowneBank and serves on the TowneBank Board. He was the Rector at Eastern Virginia Medical School and is now a Co-Chairman of the Medical School’s capital campaign. Mr. Fine served as a commissioner and Vice Chairman of the Virginia Beach Development Authority, as a Founding Director and Chairman of the Virginia Beach Foundation, a Founding Director of Virginia Beach Vision, as well as a founder and former Chairman of Cape Henry Collegiate School. He led the effort to save and restore the Dewitt cottage (now the Atlantic Wildfowl Museum). He was chairman of the fundraising campaign to save the Attucks Theatre in Norfolk. He is a cofounder of Lynnhaven River NOW and served on the Virginia Beach Green Ribbon Committee. He served the Chrysler Museum of Art as a Chairman and Director, was Co-Chair of Art of Glass I and II, and served as a board member for WHRO Public Telecommunications and the Hampton Roads Community Foundation. At present, he is the Founding Director and Chairman of Public Art, Virginia Beach Foundation and is a chairman of the Virginia Beach ViBe, Creative District. He and his brother, Morris, recieved recognition as Outstanding Philanthropist of Hampton Roads 2017. He also recieved the Alli award for his contribution to the cultural life of Hampton Roads.
Morris Fine has been an active member of The Runnymede Corporation’s executive team since 1956. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia; and has been practicing law in Virginia since 1955. Mr. Fine routinely appears in all Courts in South Hampton Roads on a wide variety of issues ranging from land use and development, business development and planning, estate matters and all aspects of civil litigation.
He served as Chairman of the Board of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (1978-82), President of the Virginia Marine Science Museum (now the Virginia Aquarium), and was President and Trustee of the Virginia Beach Foundation (1984-2006). He has also served as President of the Virginia Beach Library Foundation and serves on the board of the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation.
He is a member of the Virginia Beach Bar Association; the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (Director, 1960-1992); Chairman, Virginia Family Law Committee, (1986); and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He also served in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps to 1956.
In 2015, he received the ninth annual Barron F. Black Community Builder award from the Hampton Roads Community Foundation. The award honors a Hampton Roads professional adviser for outstanding community service, support of philanthropy and dedication to improving life in the region.
Matthew Fine has been an active member of The Runnymede Corporation Board of Directors since 1990. He is a graduate of The University of Richmond (BS 1986) and The University of Georgia (MFA 1990). His personal business activities include developing and managing five storage facilities in Hampton Roads that he sold in 2019.
He is a founding Director of Towne Bank Norfolk. He has also served on numerous boards including The Hope House Foundation, Norfolk State University Foundation, Ohef Sholom Temple, Tidewater Jewish Federation and Foundation and The Elizabeth River Project.
Matthew has a national reputation for his Cast Glass and Granite sculpture that can be seen in numerous private and public collections. He also has collaborated with his brother Jeffrey producing two feature films including Art Show Bingo that he co-wrote and directed.
Garrett joined Runnymede in March 2022 as Executive Vice President to lead strategic planning and real estate investments. In October 2022, he assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer. He works closely with the Board of Directors and other senior executives to operationalize the company’s vision and enjoys helping to develop all of our outstanding team members here at Runnymede.
Previously, Garrett served as the Portfolio Controller for Armada Hoffler Properties (NYSE: AHH) where he helped oversee significant operational aspects of the property portfolio in addition to his financial reporting, accounting, and IT systems responsibilities. Garrett was also instrumental in the acquisition process for over $500M worth of properties, the implementation of Sarbanes Oxley Section 404, and consulting on deal structures and financial forecasts for development projects.
Garrett holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. He started his career with KPMG, LLP and also served as the Controller for T. Parker Host, a maritime services company prior to entering the commercial real estate industry.
Garrett enjoys snow skiing, crafting innovative wine tastings and pairings, supporting local performing arts organizations, and relaxing on the beach. He engages with the community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and his ongoing involvement with the CIVIC Leadership Institute. Past service includes the Tidewater Community College Education Foundation, Sail Nauticus, and the Hampton Roads Global Commerce Council.
Rob has worked at Runnymede in one fashion or another since he was sixteen, taking breaks to study History at Georgetown University and Business at Old Dominion University along the way. His experience runs the gamut from Property Maintenance to Capital Investment with a little Construction in between. Rob thoroughly enjoys being a part of a growing family business that sincerely cares as much about the Community it serves as it does itself. He looks forward to assisting you with your Commercial Real Estate needs and maybe trading a few stories with you on the golf course.
Mike Fine graduated from Norfolk Academy with Honors in 2000, got his BS at Hampden-Sydney College in 2004, and later earned a Masters from Old Dominion University in 2010. Professionally Mike gained experience while working as an appraiser with Soscia and Co. and has been with Runnymede since 2013. Currently Mike works in sales, leasing, and property management. Mike's community work includes numerous charities and non-profits. Mike is currently serving on the Virginia Beach CASA board. Mike is married to his high school sweetheart Blair, and they have three children together (Kate, Summer, and Will). Mike has also biked across the country (coast to coast), has completed an Ironman Triathlon, numerous marathons, and finally Mike is a 5-time fantasy football champion.

Shawn Buddenhagen leads our Property Management team with the goal of providing exceptional tenant service and a first-rate portfolio. Shawn knows that providing excellent service is key to a great tenant experience. Starting as a building engineer in 2003, Shawn has continually progressed into new challenging roles and been involved in all aspects of Property Management at Runnymede.
Shawn Buddenhagen also oversees our development, construction, and major capital projects. In this role he has managed the delivery of over 1M SF of tenant space from initial space design to tenant move in.
In Shawn’s free time you can find him running up a mountain or maybe across a state. He stays involved in the local community by coaching youth sports and running a charity that provides bikes for deserving children for the holidays.
Hampton Brewer brings 34 years combined experience in residential and commercial property management. He also has several years of experience managing condominium and homeowner associations consisting of over one thousand units around Hampton Roads. He joined The Runnymede Corporation in 2015 as a Residential District Manager for its multifamily division until 2019 when the company decided to move away from residential and focus solely on commercial properties. Hampton most recently took on a new role as Senior Property Manager within the commercial property management division.
Hampton’s extensive and diverse experience in multi facets of property management allows him to bring a level of excellence to all properties under his direction. He prides himself on providing a quality customer experience.
Sheri Kimnach grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She began working for The Runnymede Corporation in 2000. More than eighteen years later she is still an active member of the Runnymede team, in her current role as Commercial Property Manager. Sheri enjoys living at the beach, her hobbies include running and biking. Sheri loves spending time with her family and friends and volunteering where needed.
If you have a question about a property, ask Barry. Barry is one of our longest tenured employees and acts as our Property Program Manager. He is in charge of maintenance operations for our commercial portfolio. This involves overseeing the maintenance of our properties and the scheduling of work order and preventative maintenance tasks. In his free time Barry enjoys Corvettes, collecting rare items, and fishing.
Michael Morris is our Building Engineer for our full-service properties. He strives to maintain and operate our Class A properties at an excellent level. Michael is a Charlottesville native and a big fan of UVA.
Chris is a maintenance technician on our property management team. He responds to work order calls and maintains his assigned properties in excellent condition. Chris has extensive experience in both commercial and residential maintenance operations. When March Madness rolls around you can find Chris rooting for the Duke Blue Devils.
Kenny is the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor on our property management team. He’s responsible for responding to tenant maintenance requests and overseeing the condition of his assigned properties. Kenny has great rapport with our tenants and provides great tenant service. Kenny spends his free time being a busy dad and cheering for the 49ers.
Nate focuses on the asset management, leasing, and development teams to provide quantitative and qualitative support across various phases of the company’s expansive commercial portfolio. Nate also specializes in client representation, lease and sales contract negotiation and market research.
He is involved in local chapters of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Hampton Roads Association of Commercial Real Estate (HRACRE) and is working on his Certified Commercial Investment Member certification (CCIM). He also sits on the future generations board of the Children’s Hospital for the Kings Daughter (CHKD). Nate is a licensed real estate salesperson in the commonwealth of Virginia.
Prior to joining Runnymede, Nate worked with multifamily developer Greystar Real Estate Partners in Charleston, SC. Nate is a Georgetown University Master’s degree candidate. Nate received his Bachelor of Arts in history & business administration from the University of South Carolina.
Kristin has been with the Runnymede Accounting Department since 2009. She has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from College of Charleston in South Carolina. In her spare time, you can find Kristin walking her dog on the beach or watching the dolphins and sand pipers play in the Bay.
Chen Gao joined Runnymede as a Senior Accountant in May 2018. He monitors and reports the performance of Runnymede’s investment portfolios. He also performs accounting work and financial statement analysis for multiple commercial and self-storage properties.
Chen holds a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Old Dominion University. He is currently studying for the CPA exam.
His interests include reading Sci-Fi books, watching movies, and traveling.
Brenda, a longtime resident of Hampton Roads, is originally from Canada where she earned a Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Biology at Queen’s University and an M.B.A. at Dalhousie University with a concentration in International Business & Finance.
Following college graduation, and after working in the airline industry in Canada, Brenda moved to the USA and held healthcare management roles in two US states and then became a CPA licensed in VA. She has gained a variety of valuable & interesting work experience in both public accounting & other business accounting roles including the private equity-backed real estate investment industry.
Brenda’s favorite ways to spend time include exploring new adventures with her husband, visiting her two adult children as well as travel, music, yoga, and a variety of outdoor activities. As an avid supporter of parent involvement in education, she volunteered in many different capacities while her children attended public schools in Virginia Beach.
Jake was born and raised in Hampton Roads where he attended Old Dominion University and earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting and a minor in Business Analytics. Since graduating in 2018, he has gained working experience in both private and publicly traded companies, specializing in the property management industry.
Jake volunteers with the local chapter of Special Olympics where he coaches athletes in their favorite sports. In his free time, you can find Jake at the local golf course or at the beach with his family.
Jackie joined Runnymede in June 2013 and holds the position of Administrative Assistant. She holds a BS in Business Administration from Virginia Wesleyan College, now known as Virginia Wesleyan University. Within the company she has dabbled in all areas. She is currently a big support role for the Accounting department. Personally, she enjoys playing in adult social leagues playing sports like dodgeball, wiffleball and softball.
Justin, a proud Virginia Beach native, joined Runnymede as a Senior Accountant in January 2023.
Previously to joining Runnymede, Justin earned his BBA degree in Accounting from Radford University and started his career working in the corporate office for DB Schenker in accounts payable and payroll. After, he joined Armada Hoffler Properties as a portfolio accountant (and was eventually promoted to a senior-level accountant) where he developed his accounting expertise in the real estate/property management industry.
In his spare time, Justin enjoys watching and playing sports, particularly basketball. Every year, he volunteers as a youth basketball coach with Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation and coaches alongside his father.”
